E-3 Visa — Australian Citizen Temporary Worker in a Specialty Occupation
This employer-sponsored visa was created by a Free Trade Agreement between Australia and the U.S. It provides citizens of Australia work-authorization for professional-level positions, such as engineers, IT specialists, elementary and high school teachers, and college professors, just to name a few.
A distinct advantage of the E-3 visa is that an application may be filed directly at a U.S. Embassy; this visa status can also be obtained by filing a petition with USCIS.
Each E-3 approval is valid for two years and may be renewed indefinitely.
A spouse of the principal E-3 visa holder is eligible for work authorization by filing an application with USCIS upon arrival in the U.S.
