Employment-Based First Preference Immigrant Visas (EB-1)
This visa category includes three different classifications for permanent residence.
The first classification (EB-1A) is reserved for foreign nationals who have extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics; it is a standard for those who have achieved the highest recognition in their field nationally or internationally who will substantially benefit the United States.
The second classification (EB-1B) is reserved for outstanding professors and researchers in an academic area.
The third classification (EB-1C) is for managers and executives who have worked abroad in an internationally-based company for at one continuous year out of the past three and are transferred to the United States to work for a related company (parent, subsidiary, or affiliate) in a managerial or executive role.
PERM labor certification is not required for this immigrant visa category.
